thumbnail A sure sign of spring: a red-breasted robin.
thumbnail There were several swifts darting down to skim the water. This is the closest I came to catching one in the act.
thumbnail Poor lighting, but interesting size contrast: great blue heron briefly flying side by side with a swift.
thumbnail A pair of swans were building a nest. This is the proud father-to-be.
thumbnail The swan floats regally by.
thumbnail When a goose got too close to the nest, the male swan came charging back like an avenging angel.
thumbnail The enemy is routed.
thumbnail The swan takes a victory lap with his wings still puffed out.
thumbnail A widgeon, also the male half of a pair.
thumbnail The widgeon again.
thumbnail Two night herons of a goup of four.
thumbnail Night heron again.
thumbnail Finally one swift came close enough to allow a decent photo.
thumbnail Then another swift arrived.
thumbnail And another.
thumbnail One more.
thumbnail Here are both of the widgeons.
thumbnail One last shot of the male widgeon.
